Billing Software With Online Store: Checklist

By Indi Andaz

Billing software with an online store means one account for two jobs: GST bills at the counter and orders from a web store. Before you switch, check four things: does it print a GST invoice with HSN and tax lines, does it take cash, UPI and card at the counter, does the store take UPI, card and COD, and does stock move between the two. With Indi Andaz, counter stock and online stock are kept separate today.

Example, not a real shop: a mobile accessories shop in Guwahati. In the same week, two renewal messages arrive. One’s from the billing software at the counter. The other’s from the website platform where the owner started selling online last year.

Two bills. Two logins. Two product lists that never quite agree. At month end, he sends his CA one report from the counter software and a separate export from the website, and they both lose an evening joining them up.

He doesn’t mind paying for tools. What bothers him is paying twice for what’s really one business.

What does GST billing software for a shop usually cost?

Prices change often, so treat these as a snapshot. We checked these public pricing pages on 6 October 2026. Jewellery counters have their own needs, covered in billing software for a jewellery shop.

  • Vyapar: the Platinum page lists ₹9,999 a year for one year, shown as ₹833 a month. Vyapar has other tiers at other prices, so check which one matches your setup: Vyapar pricing page
  • myBillBook: the pricing page lists Plus at ₹3,490 a year billed annually, shown as ₹291 a month (struck through from ₹4,833): myBillBook pricing page

These are useful tools, and plenty of shops are happy with them. The point isn’t that billing software is overpriced. It’s what happens when you also want to sell online.

And what does a separate website add on top?

If you build your store on a website platform, that’s a second subscription. As one example, Shopify’s India pricing page (checked 6 October 2026) lists Basic at ₹1,994 a month billed month to month, or ₹1,499 a month paid yearly: Shopify India pricing

The same page says third-party transaction fees may apply if you use a third-party payment provider instead of Shopify Payments. It also lists a paid POS add-on for physical stores at ₹7,000 a month per location. Our ecommerce website cost guide goes through these numbers in more detail.

Here’s an illustrative combination using the prices above, before GST and before any payment gateway fees:

ItemPrice usedPer year
Billing software (myBillBook Plus, yearly)₹3,490 a year₹3,490
Website (Shopify Basic, paid yearly)₹1,499 a month₹17,988
Total₹21,478

Your mix may cost less or more. The pattern is what matters: two subscriptions, running all year, whether the shop is busy or quiet.

Why is running two systems more than a money problem?

The subscription is the visible cost. The hidden cost is your time.

  • Two product lists. Every new item, price change or discontinued model gets updated in two places.
  • Two sets of reports. Counter invoices in one tool, online sales in another. Your CA gets two files and has to put them together for GST.
  • Two logins for staff. Someone always forgets one password.
  • Two sets of customer records. The regular who buys at the counter and also orders online looks like two different people.

For a retail shop with one or two people running everything, that’s hours every month.

What should one system for counter and online sales actually cover?

Before you pick anything, write down what your shop needs every day. A reasonable checklist:

  1. GST bills at the counter, quickly, with barcode scanning.
  2. All the ways Indian customers pay at the counter: cash, UPI, card, udhar (credit) and split payments.
  3. A store link customers can open from Instagram or WhatsApp.
  4. Online checkout with UPI, card and cash on delivery.
  5. One order list with address and payment status for online orders.
  6. Delivery that doesn’t need a separate courier account.
  7. A clear fee, charged only on orders that are delivered.

If you need three tools to tick all seven, you’re probably paying for overlap.

POS with an online store: what to check before you pick one

A POS (point of sale) is your counter: POS billing means the GST bill you hand a walk-in customer. The online side is your shop link or website. Some products link the two stock counts, and some keep them separate. Ask which before you pay, because it changes your evening routine. Shops that still use a notebook can begin with a dukan ka stock register before moving to software.

  • Counter billing: does it do GST bills and barcode, and take every way your customers pay, udhar and split payments included?
  • Online payments: does it take UPI, card and COD?
  • Shipping: who ships, and what does each parcel cost?
  • Fees: is there a fixed fee every month, a per-order fee, or both? Is payment processing included?
  • Stock: are counter and online quantities linked, or do you update the online quantity yourself?

Here’s how a few compare on their own pages, checked on 6 October 2026. Neosell lists ₹999 to ₹4,999 a month, with a 14-day trial, and its FAQ says the shop counter and online shop use the same inventory (check the current page at Neosell site). Shopify lists Basic at ₹1,499 a month paid yearly, plus the ₹7,000 a month POS add-on per location for fuller in-store selling (check the current page). OrderMint POS starts at $29 a month (check the current page at OrderMint pricing).

Indi Andaz gives you Counter app GST billing and a branded shop link with online payments, COD and Delhivery shipping. Counter stock and online stock are kept separate today, so you update the online quantity yourself, say at closing time. No monthly fee, 5% only on delivered online orders, payment processing included. GST applies on the fee. Delhivery shipping is charged separately.

How do you switch without disturbing the counter?

Don’t change everything in the Diwali rush. A quieter fortnight is a better time to move. For a design-code system that works at a saree counter, see saree inventory management.

  1. Start with your fast movers. Add the 30 or 50 items you bill most often, with barcodes, and bill those on the new app first.
  2. Run both for a week or two. Keep the old software open for anything you haven’t added yet.
  3. Train whoever sits at the counter. Five real bills with them watching beats any manual.
  4. Share the store link only when the online catalogue looks right. Clear photos and correct prices first.
  5. Tell your CA the date you switched, so the month’s GST figures are easy to follow.

Where does counter billing fit in the bigger picture?

A local shop selling through WhatsApp and Instagram tends to lose money in three places: payment proof it can’t trust, orders lost in chats, and counter bills kept apart from the online side. This post is about the third. When the counter book and the online sales live in different places, nobody sees the whole day’s business in one view. If you run a saree shop, our guide to billing software for a saree shop gets more specific. Boutiques that stitch to order should read boutique inventory management.

How does Indi Andaz handle counter billing and the online store together?

Indi Andaz gives you both in one account.

  • Counter app (Android, com.indiandaz.counter): GST bills at the shop with barcode support. Take cash, UPI, card, udhar or split payments.
  • Online side: a branded store with a link like indiandaz.com/sellers/yourshopname, where customers pay by UPI, card or COD. UPI and card payments are confirmed at checkout. See how it works.
  • One place to see the business: counter bills and online orders sit in one app, alongside the Seller Portal on the web and the Partner app on Android.
  • Stock, stated plainly: counter stock and online catalogue stock are kept separate today. The Counter app keeps its own product list; you can copy products across, then manage the two counts side by side.

No monthly fee, 5% only on delivered online orders, payment processing included. GST applies on the fee. On a ₹1,000 product the fee is ₹50. Delhivery shipping is charged separately. There’s no separate gateway fee for UPI or card payments.

That’s the whole cycle in one place: shop link, confirmed payment, delivery and GST counter bills.

What are the honest limits?

  • Talk to your CA first. The Counter app is built for GST billing at the shop. If your CA relies on accounting features in your current software, check with them before you drop it.
  • Counter runs on Android. Choose your counter device with that in mind.
  • Stock is separate on each side. If you sell the same item at the counter and online, keep an eye on both counts yourself.
  • Still 5% only on delivered online orders. It’s pay-per-order, not zero.
