The festive sale ideas that work best for a shop with online orders are about getting ready, not about discounts. Four weeks before your biggest festival, list fewer items, make a few ready bundles, fix a last order date, pack at set times away from the counter, and give one person charge of online orders. This works for Puja and Diwali, Eid, Onam, Pongal or a wedding season rush. Here is a four week countdown, with a home decor shop as the example.
Say you run a home decor and puja items shop in Ranchi. (A typical example, not a real shop.) Brass diyas, idols, torans, rangoli colours, gift hampers for offices that want something besides sweets. From Mahalaya to Bhai Dooj your counter barely breathes. That festive season stretch pays for the rest of the year.
Last season a few online orders came in on top of all that. One went out two days late. A customer in Jamshedpur was promised a brass set that had already sold at the counter. Nobody slept well. Not you, not Sunil.
Most festive sale ideas you’ll find online are about banners and discounts. These are about the boring part that decides whether festive orders go well. Here’s the countdown.
Which festive and Diwali sale ideas work for a shop’s online orders?

Four weeks before Puja, decide what goes on your store this season. Keep the list short. Ten or twelve festive items you’ve got plenty of will beat forty you might run out of, because a sold-out item that’s still showing online turns into an apology call in the middle of your busiest week. To start taking festive orders from Instagram, see how to sell on Instagram without a website.
Build a few ready bundles. Twelve clay diyas with wicks and a small rangoli pack. A brass puja thali with a bell and a kumkum box. Bundles are easier to photograph, easier to pack and easier for a customer in Pune or Bengaluru to buy. As Diwali offers go, a well-made combo at an honest price (say ₹349 for the diya set) often does better than a big discount.
Photograph everything now, in daylight, while the shop’s calm and the festival crowd is still weeks off. Write the price. List what’s inside. Done.
When should you set a last order date?
Two weeks before, pick a last date for orders that need to reach before Diwali and put it at the top of your product descriptions. A customer in Chennai would rather hear “order by the 20th” than get a parcel after Lakshmi Puja. For the cash on delivery rules behind a last order date, read COD vs prepaid.
Set up a packing table away from the counter. A corner of the godown’s fine. Keep the packaging there: boxes in 3 sizes, tape, bubble wrap and printed address slips, so nobody raids the counter drawer for scissors.
Choose one person to own online orders for the whole season. Say it’s Sunil. He checks new orders, packs and tells you when stock looks low. Everyone else leaves the online side alone. One owner, no confusion. If orders also arrive on WhatsApp, our guide to WhatsApp order management shows how Sunil can keep them in one list.
How do you handle Puja week and Diwali week?
Pack twice a day, not 12 hours straight: once early, before the 10 am opening, and once after lunch at 2. That way the counter’s fully staffed when the local evening crowd from Main Road and Lalpur comes in, and nobody has to choose between a parcel and a customer. Count your bestselling sizes before the rush, as in boutique inventory management.
Keep a paper list at the counter headed “online, running low”. When the last few of something sell to walk-in customers, Sunil hides that item online the same evening. Counter stock and online inventory are kept separate today, so this small habit is what stops you promising stock you don’t have.
For cash on delivery orders above ₹1,500, make a quick call first. Confirm the address, the landmark and that someone will be home. For UPI orders paid outside the store, check your bank app before you pack; the rush is when fake screenshots turn up. Here’s how to identify a fake UPI payment.
If a customer asks “will it reach by Dhanteras?” and you aren’t sure, say so. Don’t guess. A careful answer protects your name better than a hopeful one.
What should you review after Bhai Dooj?
Sit down with Sunil over tea and go through every order of the season, the late ones, the returned ones and the ones that came back for a second bundle. Which bundles drove sales? Which flopped? Did Kolkata order more than Patna or Bhubaneswar? Which item did people ask about that you didn’t have online? Write it down now. By next September you’ll have forgotten.
Where Indi Andaz comes in

It’s all easier when online orders arrive in one place. Indi Andaz, made by Prilix Labs, gives your shop a branded online store at an address like indiandaz.com/sellers/yourshopname. Customers pay by UPI, card or cash on delivery. Sunil can handle orders from the web Seller Portal on the shop computer or the Partner app on his Android phone, including Delhivery labels and pickup (see Indi Andaz seller website). The Counter app takes care of GST billing for walk-in customers.
No monthly fee, 5% only on delivered online orders, payment processing included. GST applies on the fee. Details are on the Indi Andaz seller website. Delhivery shipping is charged separately. That suits a business where most of the year’s online orders land in a few busy weeks.
You can set up your store at Indi Andaz for sellers.
Quick FAQ
Which Diwali offers for shop customers work best online?
Bundles at an honest price, a clear last order date and photos that show what’s inside. If Puja is only a few weeks away, keep it small: ten well-photographed festive items make a perfectly good first season.
Can I take products offline for a few days if the counter gets too busy?
Yes. It’s often wiser than taking orders you can’t pack on time, and your regulars won’t hold a two-day pause against you.
Should I cover the delivery charge for customers during Diwali?
Decide product by product. On Indi Andaz, whether the customer pays for delivery is a per-product setting, so you might cover it only on bundles above a certain price. Delhivery shipping is still charged separately.
