Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho Seller Fees 2026

By Indi Andaz

Amazon Flipkart Meesho seller fees look like zero in 2026, because all three now offer zero commission on a kurta under ₹1,000. The real cost sits in the other lines: closing or fixed fees, shipping and returns. Amazon’s own example shows ₹55 to ship a 350 g parcel by Easy Ship, while Flipkart and Meesho keep their shipping and fixed fee figures inside the seller account.

Last checked: 27 October 2026, on each company’s own seller fee page: Amazon’s fees and pricing page, Flipkart’s fees and commission page and Meesho’s pricing page. Where a page doesn’t print a rupee figure, we say so and leave the gap empty.

The example order we used for all three

You sell a women’s cotton kurta. We priced it two ways, at ₹999 and at ₹499, packed under 500 g, with no delivery charge to the customer. On Amazon that falls under “Apparel (Ethnic wear)”. On Flipkart it sits in the Fashion category. Meesho uses one commission rate for everything.

Fees change by category, price and weight. If you sell steel utensils or phone covers, your numbers will differ, so treat this as a method and redo it for your own product. Card and UPI fees on your own store are covered in payment gateway charges in India.

Amazon seller fees in India: what you pay on a kurta

Amazon’s fees and pricing page lists three charges on most orders.

  • Referral fee. For Apparel (Ethnic wear), the page shows “0.00% for item price <= 1,000” and “16.50% for item price > 1,000” (checked 27 Oct 2026). Price your kurta at ₹1,049 and the 16.5% applies to the whole price.
  • Closing fee. A flat amount by price band, effective 7 September 2026. The amount depends on your category, your price band and whether you use Easy Ship or Self Ship. Amazon’s page shows it in band tables, so check the one for your category in Seller Central.
  • Weight handling fee. This is Amazon’s shipping charge for Easy Ship. Amazon’s own example shows ₹55 for a 350 g Easy Ship parcel (checked 27 Oct 2026). Your rate depends on your STEP level, so check Seller Central. If you self-ship, there’s no weight handling fee, but you pay your own courier.

So on a ₹999 or ₹499 kurta sent by Easy Ship, the referral fee is ₹0. You still pay the closing fee for your price band and the weight handling fee, about ₹55 for a parcel like Amazon’s 350 g example. GST is added on fees. Amazon says its fees are indicative, so check the rate card in your Seller Central account. The page says new sellers are paid 7 days after delivery.

Flipkart seller commission: zero on fashion, but not zero fees

Flipkart’s fees and commission page says: “We offer a 0% commission on all products priced below ₹1,000, regardless of category. Additionally, we provide a flat 0% commission across the entire Fashion category.” So your kurta pays no commission at ₹499, ₹999 or even ₹1,499.

There is also a fixed fee, which Flipkart says is “also known as the closing fee”. Its size depends on which seller group Flipkart puts you in: Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze. The page shows Platinum sellers paying “Base Rate – ₹15 upto ₹30” and Bronze sellers paying “Base Rate + ₹10”, but never prints the base rate in rupees. It doesn’t list shipping or collection fees either. It tells you to “create your seller account to view it on the seller dashboard.”

So for Flipkart we can’t give you a rupee total. We won’t guess one. Open the rate card in your own seller dashboard and fill in the fixed fee and shipping before you compare.

Meesho seller commission: what the page says, and what it still charges

On 27 October 2026, Meesho’s pricing page put it this way: “Meesho charges 0% Commission rate across all categories, allowing sellers to retain their full earnings on every sale.” It also listed “No Registration Fee” and “No Collection Fee”, and said you pay nothing extra on payment gateway or cash on delivery orders.

Here’s what Meesho still charged on 27 October 2026, in its own words:

  • Shipping. Meesho delivered the order “with only 18% GST on the shipping charges”. The page didn’t print the shipping rate in rupees. Your Supplier Panel shows it.
  • Customer returns. Check your Supplier Panel for any charge on customer returns.
  • RTO. If the customer refuses the parcel, “Meesho will not charge a return shipping fee for any RTOs.”
  • Penalties. “Meesho charges 0 penalties for supplier cancellations and auto cancellations.”

Meesho also paid on “a 7-day payment cycle from order delivery, including cash on delivery orders.” For a kurta at ₹499 or ₹999, your Meesho cost is the shipping charge plus 18% GST on it. Check your Supplier Panel for any charge on customer returns. Check the current page and your Supplier Panel before you rely on this.

The commission row reads zero across the board. Your margin gets decided in the rows under it, and Flipkart and Meesho only show those rows once you have an account. If you are weighing a site of your own against the marketplaces, ecommerce website cost in India shows what a store really costs each month.

What the same kurta costs on your own store

On your own Indi Andaz store the pricing is: “No monthly fee, 5% only on delivered online orders, payment processing included. GST applies on the fee.” Delhivery shipping is charged separately.

For the ₹999 kurta, the fee is ₹49.95 plus GST. For the ₹499 kurta it’s ₹24.95 plus GST. If the order isn’t delivered, there’s no 5%. Add your Delhivery shipping on top, because that’s a separate line.

That’s not quite apples to apples. Amazon’s weight handling fee is its shipping charge, and our 5% doesn’t include shipping. Put your Delhivery rate for the same parcel next to Amazon’s ₹55 example and compare the totals, not the headline rates. We compared commission against monthly fees in more detail in commission vs monthly fee.

Marketplaces bring buyers. Your own store doesn’t.

Be honest with yourself about this part. A buyer on Amazon, Flipkart or Meesho is already searching for a kurta. Nobody finds your own store unless you send them there. Your link has to travel through your Instagram bio, your WhatsApp status, the card in the parcel and the customer who walks into your shop.

So you don’t have to choose. You can keep listing on a marketplace to meet new buyers, then send repeat customers and Instagram followers to your own link. On the marketplace you pay for reach. On your own store you pay 5% on orders you brought in yourself, and the customer’s number stays with you.

How to work out your own numbers this week

  1. Pick your three best sellers and note the selling price and packed weight.
  2. On Amazon’s page, find your exact category’s referral fee and check which price band you’re in.
  3. Log in to Flipkart and Meesho and copy the fixed fee and shipping for that weight.
  4. Add the GST on every fee.
  5. Estimate how many orders come back, and add the return fee for those.
  6. Do the same for your own store: 5% plus GST on delivered orders, plus Delhivery shipping.

Write it on one page, with each fee as a share of order value. A price just under a band edge can change your fees a lot. On Amazon, a ₹1,049 kurta pays the 16.50% referral fee on the whole price, about ₹173, where a ₹999 kurta pays ₹0, and the closing fee moves to a higher band too.
